The Find File utility that comes with your Mac can also be helpful in 窶弸anking窶 unneeded files from your hard disk.
Uninstall
For example, suppose you wanted to uninstall the application SimpleText and all SimpleText files. Select creator from the Find File left pop-up menu, and drag a SimpleText file onto the Find File window (to set the creator signature). Find File will show you all SimpleText applications and files, which you can then drag to the Trash or anywhere else.

Of course Yank will give you more flexibility than using Find File!
Clean Up Prefs Folder
Suppose Yank tells you a certain file in the Preferences folder is an orphan. You can further research this with Find File. Select creator from the Find File left pop-up menu, and drag the file onto the Find File window (to set the creator signature). Looking at the list of files that have the same creator signature may help you determine if you should keep the file or not.
Note: You won't see any applications in the list窶杯hat's the reason Yank claims the file to be an orphan (which may or may not be true).
